During the making of the "Can Cook!! Will Cook!!" book, 3 trainees gave birth. We trained 22 people - mothers, mothers to be, fathers, fathers to be, grandmothers and one granddad. We used 10 camping stoves, 10 preparation tables, some very sharp knives, brightly coloured chopping boards, pots, pans, bowls, all the necessary shiny utensils and some trendy aprons then we prepared all this food - 12 red cabbages, over 100 red onions, about 20 bunches of spring onions, 50 big carrots, sticks and sticks of celery, 40 kilos of Maris Piper potatoes, 5 kilos of baby potatoes, 70 leeks, 30 cucumbers, 2 very big boxes of tomatoes, 10 tubs of cherry tomatoes, Bags of mixed peppers, 5 kilos of mushrooms, 12 courgettes, 50 chicken breasts, a couple of duck breasts, 5 kilos each of beef steak and beef mince, 8 kilos of lamb shoulder, 7 sides of salmon, a large sea bass for the barbie, 50 sardines, 10 bunches of fresh mint, 12 bunches of fresh coriander, 7 bunches of fresh dill, 10 bunches of fresh parsley, 5 bunches each of fresh basil and tarragon (which we grew ourselves), 3 bunches of thyme, 15 bulging bulbs of garlic, 40 lemons, various cheeses, 20 tins of chickpeas, 15 tins of kidney beans, 12 tins of borlotti beans, bags and bags of egg noodles, pasta of varying shapes and sizes, kilos of organic rice, good quality veg and chicken stock, approximately 8 litres of olive oil, a few litres of veg oil, a bottle or two of balsamic vinegar, bottles of red and white wine, 2 bottles of Worcester sauce, 3 bottles of soy sauce, 3 litres of cream, tubs of yogurt, 5 tins of coconut milk, a large catering box of eggs, 20 kilos of plain flour, 4 bottles of white wine vinegar, lots of salt, pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon, garam masala, ground cloves, chilli powder, paprika, cumin, turmeric, coriander powder, mustard, honey and all those other bits that add bite.
